Red-necked grebe Bird, stocky grebe with long neck; straight long black bill with yellow at base. Breeding adult has dark brown black upperparts; dark wings with two prominent white-patches; black cap extending below eye; small crest and large, pale grey cheek patch with whitish margins extending behind eye. Rusty-red neck in front and upper breast; pale belly, greyish flanks and sides, black legs and feet. Usually feeds in shallow water, diving underwater, or picking from vegetation.
